ACA Howe International have a high level of expertise in all areas of the exploration and mining industry and offer a range of geological and mining services.  Our staff and Associates have many years' experience as consultants and offer a flexible, client focused approach. Many of our staff and Associates have been with us for a number of years providing valuable continuity.  Our personnel include geologists, remote sensing geologists, geophysicists, mining engineers, metallurgists and processing engineers.

Directors

Tom Dowrick BSc, CGeol - Director and Geologist

 

Tom is a Chartered Geologist specialising in exploration and resource development.  He has experience working in a variety of exploration phases, from remote greenfield projects and resource drilling, to resource expansion by drilling beneath open pits and by underground development in existing underground mines.  He has field experience on gold, silver, copper, uranium, manganese and coal bed methane projects and has worked in Africa, Asia, Australasia, Central America and Europe.

 

Tom has  a strong knowledge of technical reporting requirements, especially NI 43-101 and JORC.  He has managed many projects for ACA Howe International and has a certificate in project management.

Christopher Boyd BSc, MSc, FGS, FRGS - Director and GIS Specialist

 

Chris Boyd gained a BSc (Hons) in Geography from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2007, and a NERC funded MSc in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) from the University of Leicester in 2009. Having specialised in geomorphology and palaeogeomorphology during his BSc, Chris used his MSc to develop his software skills and understanding of geographical information sciences. Accomplished in industry-leading software such as MapInfo, ArcMap, Erdas Imagine and CorelDraw, Chris has been involved in various projects including quarry impact assessments, satellite image interpretation and GIS compilations. Throughout his time at ACA Howe Chris has utilised skills and techniques such as digitising, cartographic modelling and design, data verification and modification, remote sensing and spatial analysis in gold, zinc, copper and oil projects in countries such as Argentina, Costa Rica, Peru, Philippines, Mali and Somalia. Chris joined ACA Howe in September 2009.

Geologists

Pat O'Sullivan BSc, MSc, MAIG

20 years' industry experience - Exploration and Resource Development

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Pat first joined A.C.A. Howe in 1996 to work on carbonate- and skarn-hosted silver and base metal deposits in Greece. He went on to form part of the successful Howe team that discovered SEMAFO’s 2.8 Moz Mana gold deposit in Burkina Faso, providing SEMAFO with a foothold in West Africa.

 

Pat was then involved in several diamond projects, from grassroots to resource development, in Guinea, Lesotho and Russia, and a number of Australian uranium and nickel sulphide deposits. Pat also worked as the Exploration Manager for a gold exploration junior that is now in production near Kalgoorlie.

Dr David Patrick BSc, PhD, FIMMM, CEng

Over 45 years' industry experience  - Exploration and Resource Development

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Dave has gained over 45 years' experience in the industry since completing a PhD in geochemistry in 1970. He has carried out exploration and evaluation projects on a wide variety of commodities for ACA Howe in the Americas, East and Western Europe, Africa and the Far East. His multidisciplinary background is particularly valuable in the design, implementation and assessment of exploration programmes in a variety of geological environments.

 

Dave first joined ACA Howe in 1980 and was a director of ACA Howe for a number of years. He is now available as a Senior Associate Geologist.

Rick Parker BSc

Over 45 years' industry experience - Exploration and Resource Development

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Rick has worked on exploration and resource development projects for over 45 years. Prior to becoming a Senior Associate Geologist of ACA Howe, Rick worked for companies such as Northgate Exploration Ltd, Cluff Mineral Exploration and Emnex International plc and spent time in locations such as Peru, Yemen, Niger, Ghana and Mali.

 

Rick has carried out assignments for ACA Howe encompassing a range of commodities in Ghana, Turkey, Peru, Ecuador, Niger, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ethiopia, Azerbaijan, Papua New Guinea, Botswana and Mozambique.

John Langlands BSc, FGS, FIMMM, C Eng

Over 45 years' industry experience - Exploration and Resource Development

Qualified / Competent Person

 

John has over 45 years' experience in the industry has been involved in numerous exploration and evaluation projects for ACA Howe since 1980. These projects cover a range of commodities including base and precious metals, industrial minerals, coal and coal bed methane and gemstones, in Europe, North and South America, Africa, the Far East and the Russian Federation.

 

John resigned from his full-time employment and directorship of ACA Howe UK in 2012 after 32 years of dedicated service and is now available as a Senior Associate Geologist.

Steffen Kalbskopf BSc

Over 40 years' industry experience - Exploration and Resource Development

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Steffen has gained over 40 year's experience in the industry and has worked extensively throughout Africa. His experience covers a wide range of commodities in many geological settings, including gold, copper-cobalt, lead-zinc, diamonds and gemstones, and platinum group elements.

 

Steffen has held positions at Anglo American, Consolidated Diamond Mines and the Zimbabwe Geological Survey. He has authored over 15 publications, chiefly related to gold deposits as well as bismuth, marble and arsenical auriferous toumalinite.

Dr Steven Hunns BSc, PhD, FGS

Over 30 years' industry experience -Exploration and Resource Development

 

Steven has over 30 years' experience both as a mineral exploration and a mine geologist. e has worked in both technical and senior management roles in eastern and northern Australia, the Middle East, western and central Asia and Southern Africa.  His experience ranges from greenfield exploration through to advanced resource definition projects.  He has worked on a variety of different ore deposit types including polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits, orogenic gold and epithermal gold deposits, copper-gold porphyry-style deposits, intrusion-related gold deposits, iron-ore deposits and Archaean greenstone and Bushveld style PGE deposits.

Dr Rob Seago BSc, PhD

Over 20 years' industry experience - Structural Mapping Specialist

 

Rob is a PhD educated geologist with over 20 year's experience in the mining, oil and gas industries. He has extensive experience in field mapping and geological interpretation in the UK and internationally.  Rob's mining experience includes on-site structural geological evaluation with respect to exploration, and open pit and underground stability issues.

 

Other work has included projects for major oil and gas companies evaluating frontier exploration territories and offshore shallow seismic projects in the UK and Middle East.

Eric Peters BSc, MIMMM, CEng

Over 50 years' industry experience -  Remote Sensing Specialist

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Eric has over 50 years' experience in the industry and is an expert in the interpretation of satellite imagery and aerial photography. He has undertaken Landsat, Aster and High Resolution satellite imagery interpretation projects in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia & Australia for most commodities.

 

Eric has been at the forefront of research and development of interpretation and processing techniques for many years and has also held executive positions with the National Remote Sensing Centre Limited (now Infoterra) and Australian Photogeologial Consultants Pty Ltd.

Dr Michael Brown BSc, PhD, FGS

Over 40 years' industry experience - Remote Sensing and GIS Specialist

 

Micky has over 40 years' experience in the industry and is a geologist specialising in remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS) and hyperspectral data processing for resource exploration.  He has worked in many parts of the world, most notably in West, Central and South Africa.  Previous employers include Anglo American Corporation of South Africa, and Hunting Geology & Geophysics.

 

Micky is strongly involved in research and development of interpretation and processing techniques, particularly focused on Aster and data from the newly launched WorldView-3 satellite.

Mining Engineers

Julian Bennett CEng

Over 50 years' industry experience  - Open Pit and Underground Mining Engineer

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Julian is a widely experienced mining professional with over 50 years in the industry. His career has covered the following: mining engineering, mine design, mine planning, mine operations, mine construction, mining consultancy and mine management.

 

He has worked in bauxite, copper, cobalt, gold, chrome, iron ore, nickel, and lead and zinc and has experience of open pit and underground mining. His career has taken him to Europe, West, Central and Southern Africa, North, Central and South America, Central Asia and Australia.

Bruce Brady PEng, FCIM

Over 40 years' industry experience  - Open Pit and Underground Mining Engineer

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Bruce has over 40 years' industry experience and has worked on engineering assignments for clients in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North, Central and South America, He has extensive experience in operations reviews, technical reports, scoping studies, feasibility studies, and due diligence reviews. In addition to this, Bruce is experienced in all aspects of mine planning and scheduling, and capital and operating cost estimates.

 

He is a Member, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), a Member, Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ), a Fellow, Life Member, Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), a Member, Society for Mining, and a Member, Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE).

Nick Hardie C.Eng, FIMMM, FIMQS

Over 40 years' industry experience  - Open Pit and Underground Mining Engineer

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Nick has over 40 years' experience in mining and tunnelling and has managed all aspects of development and production in hard rock and coal underground and surface mining operations. He has proven experience in project development and management on large and small mining projects. Nick is highly experienced in hard and soft ground excavation methods, drill and blast, NATM, closed and open face TBM's.

 

Nick is a holder of a Class 1 Mine Manager's Certificate and has been involved in the development of health and safety systems, hazard identification and risk assessments.

Michael De Carlo

Over 40 years' industry experience  - Alluvial, Open Pit and Underground Mining Engineer

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Michael has over 40 years' experience in the industry and has held a number of senior management roles during that time. He has experience working on both small and large mining operations with daily tonnage rates up to 400,000 tpd. Michael has proven experience in the optimisation of mining operations, including a 100% production increase for a project in Africa.

 

In addition to his open pit and underground mining experience, Michael has managed alluvial diamond operations in Sierra Leone, Central African Republic, Guinea and Brazil.

Metallurgists and Process Engineers

Neil Holloway BSc, MSc, PhD, FIMMM, CEng

Over 40 years' industry experience - Metallurgy and Mineral Processing

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Neil has over 40 years' industry experience and is a widely experienced metallurgist and mineral processing engineer with knowledge gained from thirteen years in operations (from 1975 to 1988) followed by consultancy (since 1988). His background is in precious and base metals, industrial minerals and fuel minerals and has been gained primarily from mines in Eastern Europe, Kazakhstan, Latin America, the Russian Federation and Southern/Central Africa.

 

Neil has completed assignments including technical reporting, feasibility studies, due diligence and audit work, risk assessment, market assessment and development, project appraisal, laboratory studies, plant design, commissioning, operation and management.

Gary Patrick MAusIMM

Over 20 years' industry experience - Metallurgy and Mineral Processing

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Gary has over 20 years experience in the mining industry and has has worked on projects worldwide, particularly in Central Asia, Former Soviet Union states and in China. He has wide experience in gold, base metals and industrial minerals and expertise in the coordination of metallurgical testwork programmes, process flowsheet design, the preparation of cashflow models and project sensitivities, operator training, plant commissioning / trouble-shooting and metallurgical audits. Gary has worked on and managed many technical reports including scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.

Tony Jackson BSc, MIMMM, ARSM

Over 35 years' industry experience - Metallurgy and Mineral Processing

Qualified / Competent Person

 

Tony has over 35 years' industry experience and has worked on projects in Africa, Europe and South America. He has experience in a range of commodities including base and precious metals, diamonds and industrial minerals. Tony has worked on studies at both greenfield sites and existing operations, including testwork programme development, metallurgical programme management and feasibility studies.  Tony has held positions with companies such as Navan Mining, Anglo-European Minerals, Europa Mining and Ashover Mining.
